The year 2009 commemorates 120 years since the general Mociulschi was born and 30 years from his pass on to eternity. On March, 27th, 1889 he saw the first daylight in Siminicea, his native beloved village (Moldavia). After 90 years of vivid existence, almost a century of history, being witness and participant to the biggest events of the 20th century, the general Mociulschi died on the 15th of Aprilie 1979, in the city of Brasov. The year 2009 represents a special moment for the memory of this hero awarded with the highest decorations during WW1 and WW2. The Trophy "General Mociulschi" for the year 2009 represents as well an important distinction of the present, a recognition for excellence, already at the third edition.

In the aim to highlight the excellence, the Trophy "General Mociulschi" has been awarded the year 2009 to the 17th Mountain Battalion of the Romanian Army, for its remarkable achievements in the field of mountain climbing and skying contests, across the time, with the occasion of the 70th anniversary of this valiant mountain infantry unit. Its entire glorious activity is now written in "The History of the 17th Mountain Battalion Dragos Voda", a fundamental book written by the prestigious military writer col. (R) Gheorghe Suman. |
